Loading Lawnmowers
Lawnmowers
are items that are often loaded last, partly because they are
difficult to fit in, and partly because they need to be used just prior
to departure to check out of housing. If you anticipate this, try to reserve
a spot for them to help your load end neatly.
Most
pushmowers have folding handles. Typically it involves loosening
a couple of handles or bolts, then squeezing the handle together at the
joint to allow it to fold. Ensure you don't crimp any control cables when
folding the handle.
Run the mower
dry and drain the oil prior to loading to comply with shipping
regulations and avoid having gasoline leak all over your goods. In addition
to greatly increasing the risk of fire, gasoline can remove paint and
finishes from furniture. To help avoid damaging the wheels, lower the
mower to the lowest height setting.

a riding mower, consider

Helpful
Hints
- Disconnect
the battery if your mower is so equipped. Ensure that any batteries
are kept upright to avoid leakage. See your owner's manual for special
requirements.
- Lawnmower
blades are dangerous even when not spinning. Avoid contact
with them when loading and ensure they cannot contact any other items.
- A clean
mower is less likely to bring insects and other pests into
the truck with your goods.
