Loading Couches, Etc.
Couches and
other upholstered items require special attention. In general,
care should be taken to avoid damage to the upholstery. A pressure point
in the side of a couch or chair can create a "stretch dimple"
that may be permanent.
Try
to fit couches and loveseats together like puzzle pieces. This
will help to create a more generally squared shape that will be simpler
to fit into the truck.
Remember that
the wooden frames inside upholstered furniture are designed to handle
forces from above, so exercise caution when standing them on
their back or sides.

Hints
- Wrap couches
in protective wrap before the truck arrives. This will keep
things moving on loading day.
- Arm covers
can be stuffed down inside the couch. Ensure they cannot fall
out.
- Wrap or
box pillows. Just throwing them in the back of the truck offers
little protection.
- Getting
furniture through doors can be tricky. Get a couple of helpers
and take your time. Use proper lifting technique.
